What will you do when you grow up?

Your perfect occupation is to be found where your great gifts meet the world's great needs.

We all have dreams of the things we might do: computer programming, designing a cathedral, painting great pictures, running an advertising department, playing the lead in a famous play or movie, balancing the books for a very rich, world-wide organization, operating a thriving small business, healing the sick, creating original culinary delights in a famous kitchen, teaching, and many other things.

Did you know that priests, monks and nuns can do all these things, and more? Their lives can be very exciting! Of course, they also spend a lot of time in prayer and reading the Bible. They balance their lives with work and prayer. They do not all do the same things: each one brings his or her own gifts to share with the whole Church, and through the Church, the world.

Father Myles Gaffney is the Vocations Director for the Diocese of Calgary.

Take a look at his web site to see how we can support our priests and religious right now, and contact him at his e-mail address, to ask him how you can share your gifts with the world through the religious life.
